Race weekend in Poland cut short

Oli Clark again proved that he’s one of the fastest juniors on the world cup circuit right now, unfortunately the result from Bielsko-Biala doesn’t show that. His race weekend ended with a mechanical & a crash in the qualies.

New venue is always welcome, especially with the track as good as it is here in Bielsko-Biala, Szczyrk to be more exact. Organizers prepared a challenging track with lots of fun sections, the fans created amazing atmosphere. Situation at the bottom wasn’t perfect, but was manageable with lots of effort and creativity.

Oli came to Poland on the wings of great success on the first round of the WHOOP UCI MTB World Series and was aiming for another top result. He started with a bang and set fastest time on the practice session… we know that only race run matters and some of the contenders didn’t collect their chips for the session, but this still feels good.

Qualies were the complete opposite. Oli had a mechanical very soon after the start of his run, even crashed due to that. Of course his time wasn’t fast enough for the main race on Sunday.

Oli Clark: “Round 2 in Poland got cut short for me… Unfortunately, I had a mechanical which led to a crash just before split 1 and I was unable to pedal the rest of the way down. I felt really good on the bike during practice, loving the fresh track and was hoping to build on my result from Fort William, but it’s part of racing. I look forward to getting in some hard training before Leogang.”

Result is not here, but the speed is and that gives Oli motivation for more hard work and of course the next round of the series.

With 8th place from Fort William, he now holds 14th place in the overall standings.
